Enrique Marquez co-founded Marquez Public Affairs (MPA), a Texas-based government relations and strategic communications firm. In the private sector, Enrique lobbied on behalf of Fortune 100 companies and successfully led rapid response teams for clients facing the most adverse public relations crises.
Enrique rejoined MPA in August 2024 after serving nearly four years in Speaker Dade Phelan's administration. Enrique served as Speaker Phelan's communications director during the 87th Legislative Session, and Phelan tapped Marquez to serve as Chief of Staff in Fall 2021. During his tenure with Speaker Phelan, Enrique aided members in passing the most significant property tax cut in American history, landmark reforms for school safety and mental health, and historic health benefits for new Texas mothers.
Enrique was a senior staff member for two House speakers and a lieutenant governor. He was a top executive at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, where he coordinated all human services for the state of Texas. In this role, he led a 35,000-person staff, administered a $38 billion annual budget, and directed the Medicaid/CHIP, SNAP, and TANF programs. A veteran of high-stakes public affairs campaigns, Enrique oversaw the communications divisions of two state agencies and the Texas Chamber of Commerce. He was the lead spokesman for multiple statewide political campaigns and elected officials.
Marquez graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He is married to the Hon. Brandy Marty Marquez, and they are the proud parents of their son, Max.
